Welcome to the Nutmeg Diaries.
This is a simple blog that will be my medium to reach one goal: recreating the foods I enjoy so much at home, without hassle (or maybe just a little) and certainly in healthier variations.
Those who know me in person know my obsession over food.. I believe it’s the best thing nature -as well as all our ancestors- have given us.
I love traveling for the sake of food.. I honestly believe the shortest way to approach a culture and learn of it is by savoring its traditional dishes.
It is this way that I have trained my extremely picky palette to embrace foods of the world and grew from a picky little girl who loves grandma’s Lebanese food with an Egyptian twist, to an adult who indulges in a piece of Italian buffalo mozzarella, slurps on a bucket of Belgian mussels, entertains at home to Mexican finger foods and has a steady sushi night that occasionally turns into a night of different Masalas from the home of my soul, India.
The idea is to create super simple recipes for foods you will either buy jarred, canned and boxed, or to recreate a delicious meal I had in a restaurant with as little of the harmful fats and ingredients as possible.
However, I must admit there’s something indulging about going to restaurants and getting food served right.. That’s why you will be coming across the occasional outing’s food review whenever I do eat out.
Why is the blog called Nutmeg Diaries though?
Well, I am one of those who believe in the power of the little things, and man does a little nutmeg go a long way in waking a dish up and making it burst with flavor. It makes it my favorite spice of all, and definitely worthy of being the title of my new window of expression.
