Strawberry Chocolate Frozen Yogurt

This is a bit of a twist to a recipe i found on the internet some time ago.
The original recipe is a Strawberry frozen yogurt that is meant to be a light and healthy dessert.
I made this so many times because it was so light, refreshing and summery. At some point thought, I thought I needed a bit of a change to it.

I will give you both options, and it’s up to you to use the healthy version, or the chocolate one 🙂

So, here are our ingredients:

  • 2 100 gm yogurt cups (I always have light yogurt in my fridge so that’s what I use
  • 200 gms frozen strawberries (or any frozen berries of choice)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tbsp chocolate ganache, frozen (optional)
  • a handful chocolate chips (optional)
  • a sturdy food processor

The steps are super simple, just add the yogurt, the strawberries (if you are using the packs as pictured above, it’s half that pack) and the honey and give it a good whirl in the processor.  That’s already the healthy version ready…

but, if you are as talented as I am in turning a healthy treat less and less healthy, then follow these few extra steps:

I have added a whole tbsp of frozen chocolate ganache (I always keep some in the freezer for any such creations). If you don’t have it at hand, you could use store bought chocolate syrup or even nutella (Try this home-made nutella)
I also like to add a bit of semi-sweet chocolate chips for an extra crunch.

Whiz that up, and you will end up with this beautiful frozen yogurt

Any left overs can be frozen and thawed for use later, however you have to be careful to not let it sit too much to thaw, otherwise it separates into water and solid content and is no longer yummy.

Enjoy your treat 🙂
